Once upon a time I spent a Saturday in the country, on my own, waiting for the call. I explored, read and explored some more.
I arrived at the farm at sunset in the last moments of milking. I captured the beauty of a simple life with soul – filled with chickens, calves, herbs, vegetables. I observed the wake of children, discarded toys and happy dog eyes. Footprints by the door. I rested in the caravan. Waiting.
And then, once all the babes were sleeping, sweet Savannah made her way into the world. It was a full moon, the cusp of September and October. She kept us guessing which month she would be born in. After a swift and intense few hours, in the wee hours of Sunday morning, a baby girl was born in the water. Birthed by her mama into a candlelit room full of love and excitement. She was peaceful, perfect. All was as it should be.
Thank you again Amy and Nic for allowing me into your world to witness something so beautiful. I left feeling inspired and a entirely in awe – it can be done.
